'The Diary of a Black Man - The Search for a Soul Mate' is a must read for all Zane, Eric Jerome Dickey, or anyone who loves to read black author’s novels.  Once I started reading, I could not stop.  Each chapter is different and some of them will blow your mind away.  On some occasions, all I could say was “WOW”.  I love a good erotic fiction novel but this book took me two days to calm down because of the details.  What I like best about the book is it is not about how many women he can screw, but it’s about finding his one and only soul mate.  He covers what a black man goes through in life while looking for a job.  He exposes racism and he stand his ground.  There are some chapters in the book that will bring tears to your eyes from laughing.  His uncle is off the hook.  On a serious note, he has a chapter about domestic violence, and I praise him for covering that issue.  I hate to say this, but June-Bug deserved what he got in jail.  Half way into the book, it turns into a thriller as he battles with Satan.  The plot and the ending are amazing and trust me; you will never figure it out.  I want to tell you but I can’t.  This is a strong story and the book is well written.  You have to adjust to the country style of written but the story takes place in Chattanooga, Tennessee so I understand.  The author lives in Memphis, the Bible belt, so he had to add a hint of religion, but it works very well. Overall this is a very good book and I can’t wait for part two.  I give this book 9 out of 10.
